It was common to find groups at App Partner parties or on the Elefant pub crawl. Even after organized gatherings such as these it seemed partners were reluctant to head back to the hotels and wanted to keep the conversations going. With help from the amazing nine-piece band, everyone was reflecting on the experience and making plans to reconnect on social media or some other means. It was in these conversations that you could almost see the network growing. Other advisors have remedies, resources, and recommendations.
Sync data between Xero and shipping apps such as ShipStation and ShippingEasy. This is the best chance to meet Xerocon app partners and find out about all of the efficiency boosting add-ons out there. For more information check out the ‘What’s your client app stack’ breakout session at 11.15am on Day 2. Of course, tomorrow evening we will have the opening reception, and I am looking forward to seeing Amanda Aguillard who is my co-host for Insightful Accountant’s ‘The Xero Zone’ webinars.
- Opening up the Xero HQ API and working closely with ecosystem partners to build messaging back into Xero HQ, is a great move.
- These conversations weren’t limited to the Convention Center or Fair Market either.
- After seeing Dandapani and Mel Robbins last year, I had high hopes for this year’s speakers.
- Getting up Tuesday morning, my co-worker and I headed over to the Austin convention center for Pre-Con.
- Xero employees sprang into action, purchasing and passing out blankets.
- As the Xero Ambassador for Atlanta I cannot wait to host my fellow partners and experience the energy, excitement, and engagement of Xerocon once again!
And whilst I believe they have learned from their mistakes, on raw numbers, one could argue, it has had an impact. Xero seem to be hellbent on the Small & Medium Business definition of SMB. From a premium pricing strategy (outside the US), to CEO Rod calling out the “mid market” at Xerocon 2016, to delivering operational, modulised, per user solutions with Expenses and Projects at Xerocon 2017. Both have evolved their strategies in recent years, but without question, cloud aware accounting firms have made buying decisions that at least considered (or should have considered) both offerings.
While beautiful, Fair Market was not exactly what I would call a winterized venue. With the main entrance being xerocon 2017 austin texas wrapup an epic circular opening without a door, the cold was continuously invading the space. The ceiling-mounted heaters in the former aircraft hangar were no match for Jack Frost.
Find Xero events
Whether you’re new to Xero or a veteran, we’ll have sessions for everyone – and you’ll earn CPE/CPD credits. Lifelong learning is akin to the AFL investing in a 20 year play in Western Sydney. I think the impact is years from now, not immediately obvious. In a world of corporate (and political) short-sighted, short-termism, I LOVE, LOVE this play by Xero. If there is one big takeaway from Xerocon 2017, it appears to me that the strategies of the two big players, Xero and Intuit, are diverging. Connect with Xero account managers and find events in your area.
What Amazon Sellers Should Look for When Hiring a Bookkeeper
After seeing Dandapani and Mel Robbins last year, I had high hopes for this year’s speakers. She spoke to team building, adversity management, and total commitment among other things. It seemed like once she showed a video featuring a huge leach stuck to her arm within the first minute of her keynote she had everyone’s attention. CCH have focused on monetising the practice, not the clients . Accounting firms across Australia, particularly those of any size, sold on the idea of cloud, really have had limited options as far as modern, cloud Practice Management solutions.
Mastering Your First Annual General Meeting: A Guide for New Board Chairs
Rather than detail the misunderstanding in a public forum, I have spoken to the appropriate people at Xero. What I will say is that it is harder to have 2000+ employees on the same page, appreciating the same things and playing well with others. Despite my incident, I think they are doing a pretty good job at managing their transition from a small NZ company to a significant global player. In 2016 there were 91 exhibitors for ~2,300 attendees to inspect. And whilst delegates grew around a third to over 3,000 in 2017, exhibitors shrank by more than 20% YoY. In my 2016 review I raised concerns as to the direction Xero had taken with its “ecosystem”.
I personally cannot wait to see Marcus Lemonis from CNBC’s investment-based reality show “The Profit” talk about the power of relationship building or to have the Xero Ambassador team teach us to be cherished advisors. If you were among the lucky few to snag a ticket to this year’s sold-out Xerocon in Austin, you are in for quite a treat. Since Xerocon is being held in the (unofficial) barbecue capital of the world, I’ll be carrying sauce in my purse in the event of a brisket emergency. Over the two days I met plenty of accountant/bookkeeper come developers that are using the Xero API to automate their businesses. With our XD Hax hackathon in full swing at the moment, I encouraged them to submit some of their work, but when we delved deeper it was pretty clear their tools were suitable only to their business.
- Xero are genuinely starting to deliver on the owning-the-aggregator strategy.
- The great thing about Rod’s keynote is that he reinforced Xero’s commitment to their partners in the accounting and bookkeeping industry.
- Those tempted to post a comment that this is about to be eroded by block-chain technology, please be sure to explain, in detail and plain English HOW!?
- As I ready myself for Xerocon 2017, I can’t help but think about how much fun I had learning and networking last year.

This year will be jam-packed with amazing speakers, networking opportunities galore, and, of course… BBQ! Since Xerocon is being held in the barbecue capital of the world, I’ll be carrying sauce in my purse in the event of a brisket emergency. Brace yourself for some unbridled enthusiasm, because it’s the most wonderful time of the year and I am genuinely excited. I always ‘walk away’ from my 8 hours of Pre-con training with not only a better understanding of the Xero product, but all the enhancements and major changes that have taken place during the months since the last Xerocon. Over the last three years I have taken the opportunity to sit through Advisor Certification training which is always offered during the Pre-Con.
We had another great week of networking and social schmoozing. Keep an eye on our Calendar, so you can meet us around the Valley. As I ready myself for Xerocon 2017, I can’t help but think about how much fun I had learning and networking last year. Every year I go with no expectations and am totally blown away. Though I’ve studied the schedule and have tried to uncover top secret info (no dice!), I am sure that this year will be something totally unexpected. Robyn spoke with passion about her tear jerking victories and losses in the adventure racing world.
Intuit appears to to be very focused on the Small & Micro Business definition of the acronym SMB. Justifying their pricing and product strategies (that has seen them build a new product “Quick Books Self Employed”), on the growing #GigEconomy opportunity. Win marketshare first, monestise second appears the core strategy.
I’m not so interested in the actual certification as I am in seeing all the changes and improvements in the product, and I have found this is the single best way to see them all. When I landed in Austin around 8 PM, I believe it was about 75 degrees. It felt great as I met up with some friends at the Hotel Van Zandt to catch up and discuss what we were looking forward to over the next couple of days. Then upon waking up at our AirBNB Tuesday morning, we found that it was not 75 degrees. It quickly became apparent which attendees had looked at the weather forecast before leaving and who had not. Tuesday was not so bad for Pre-Con as we were in the aforementioned Austin Convention Center on the fourth floor.
The future of accounting is becoming easier for those without accounting backgrounds to learn and manage their financials. The 9 partners integrated for the launch of Xero HQ Apps are Practice Ignition, Receipt Bank, FUTRLI, Fathom, Hubdoc, Spotlight Reporting, Now Infinity, SuiteFiles & BOMA. Check out this blog post for more details on what each integration does. On Wednesday morning a procession of 3000 accountants and bookkeepers rolled into the Xerocon exhibitor hall to be met by, the pounding beats of Xerocon. It looked like a festival, it sounded like a festival and everyone there made it feel the part too.
Xero partners can now access Xerocon sessions on demand at Xero Central, the hub for all things partner experience. Here you can also catch up on announcements, as well as see your points balance, certification status and resources like the partner toolkit. Intuit appear focused on growing subscription numbers alone (noting QBo ecosystem Subs and Revenue are not growing at equal pace).
The new tax, payments and payroll features help businesses manage cash flow while enabling advisors to manage more of their clients’ compliance obligations seamlessly in Xero. We announced a suite of product innovations to streamline key accounting tasks for small businesses and their advisors.
